Day three of the chick diary continued...

What an exciting day we've had today! By lunch time we had five chicks and this afternoon we've seen three more hatch! We have eight little chicks, chirping away in the incubator, some are yellow and fluffy, some are darker yellow/brown and still wet.

We've been working hard on the egg/chick life cycle. Cutting, sticking and labelling the order.

I wonder how many chicks we'll have by the time we go in tomorrow....

Day three of the chicks diary

When I arrived into school this morning we had two chicks already hatched. One had hatched over night and one around 6.00am this morning.
The children have been so excited! We watched another one hatch at 8.30am, he came out very wet and dark. They take awhile to dry out and then they turn yellow and fluffy, like the first one has. By 10.30am we had four!!

Day two of the chick diary

We continued watching our eggs on Tuesday to see if there were any changes or signs that the chicks may come. The lady had said we may be able to see the eggs moving or even hear the chicks inside today. Some of the eggs have gone a little more wrinkley so hopefully this is a sign....

Today we have done some work on the life cycle of the eggs/chicks in our literacy work, and we have been counting chicks in two's for our maths work.

Day one of the chick diary

The eggs arrived early on Monday morning. We were all very excited! The lady went through exactly how we look after them and what to do once they hatch. We watched the eggs for a while, but nothing happened yet...
We wrote to all the other classes to invite them all to come and see the eggs and chicks.
Letter writing to year five
Letter writing to year one
The start of our display and the eggs new home. The display is a working wall and will be updated throughout the next half term with childrens work about the eggs and chicks, once completed.

Our guests have arrived!

Our eggs arrived this morning, ten of them. They are nice and warm in the incubator. We're looking forward to watching them hatch.
