Friday Post 1

We spent our first Friday in Reception accessing a range of indoor activities and having our taster lunch with parents/ carers in the school hall. We did very well indeed!

The next Friday we spent time working on our self portraits...

Friday 19th September

Our second full day was a very busy one indeed. Here are a few photos to show you what we were learning and doing...

Using media and materials to represent ourselves

Making choices and being creative with increasing independence

Excellent!

Independent work!

Sustained level of concentration and creative thinking shown. Well done!

Using tools to manipulate the dough to create parts of the face. Careful and precise work. Well done!

Able to clearly describe in great detail as to all the features of the face included in her representation. Efforts shared with whole class. Super!

We worked in groups to measure each other.

We also used mathematical skills to record our findings, including hair and eye colour. Well done!

Can you spot your mark making?

During exploratory play, we developed our thinking and ideas through using th 2D shapes to create structures, using the language to describe height: tall, taller, high, higher when comparing our efforts.

Excellent counting!

Spending time outdoors to develop our writing skills is helping us a lot...and fun too!

 Excellent!

Great!

So many letter shapes from our names...

A really busy day!

A super playtime on the pencil playground too. We were super fast at lining up on the snake!

Well done Everyone!

Welcome to Reception Class 2014-2015

To all our new parents and children in Recption, a huge welcome to Mersey Vale! We have had our settling in weeks and are now full time in Reception. I'm pleased to say that all children have settled in really well. We have been very busy getting used to new classrooms, routines, friends and lessons.

We have been using the computers, laptops and iPads to enhance our learning.

We have been working together in the construction and small world areas. Using the train tracks and village to develop our own small world.

We have enjoyed our PE lessons, playing games outside on the field being let by our sports coach.

Keep up to date with what we are doing in Reception throughout the year, and add comments to our Blog if you can, we'd love to share them!!
