Receptions gymnastics lessons

We have been really lucky to have had the opportunity of Louise coming into our Reception class to teach us some new gymnastics skills. We have used the apparatus today in the hall so learn lots of new skills. We have been jumping, rolling, crawling, balancing and hopping. Here are a few pictures of our exciting morning...

What have we been doing this week

We have enjoyed playing with the play dough, making fairytale objects.
We have also enjoyed dressing up in our fairytale castle
We have been reading lots too.....

Maths work this week

In maths we have been continuing our shapes work by doing shape hunts around the school. Ticking off objects we have seen,
We have also been learning a new skill of measuring. Using cubes to see how tall, small, long, short or wide something is.

The enormous turnip

We have had a busy week continuing our fairytales theme. We have been learning about the enormous turnip story, thinking about the characters who help the farmer and his wife, and have been using wow words to describe the characters. Here's some of our work:

Shapes work

This week we have been learning about 2d and 3d shapes. We have been learning their names and their properties.
We have been making pictures using shapes, using shapes in our sand area, and making models using shapes. Here are a few we made...

Show and Tell

Today we have learnt about a new object from Malawi. Our friend Heather has spent her Christmas break with her family in Malawi. She had a lovely time and brought back an ancient cup, called a Gouard, and told us all about it. Thank you Heather.

Happy new year and welcome back!

Welcome back Reception! We have a busy week planned for your first week back. It is Computing week and we will be looking at e-safety, in particularly how to use the computers, iPads and laptops safely and what I do if there's a problem.

We have read the story of Smartie the Penguin, and learnt the moral of the story, to always ask for help.
We have learnt the rhyme - "before you click click click you need to think think think and tell someone".
