Our Pirates on Fridays theme has been exciting!
Lots of links to many aspects of our learning, including: Maths, Writing, Art, Imaginative play, physical (fine and gross) and Reading
Excellent effort and achievement!
Miss B:-)
We have enjoyed sharing this book and learning new rhymes. It has helped to build our vocabulary related to Pirates.
Being creative when using the dough and developing our fine motor skills and use of tools to shape, manipulate and improve control and coordination - important skills for our handwriting development.
Hunting for treasure and jewels in the sand. Looking for coins and exploring colour, size, shape and measures. Using props to build imagination and talk for writing. Excellent ideas and use of language to pretend, make believe and communicate effectively with peers.
Maths Challenge time - using jewels and coins to solve problems and create number sentences.
Some of us tried really hard to use the pictures which represented different amounts to calculate the answer. We talked about how we figured out the answer and supported each other. Afterwards, we hunted outdoors for the treasure chests with the total amounts on them. Excellent effort, team work and mathematical thinking. Impressive!
Good effort!
Working together, explaining our working and challenging ourselves. Some of us had extra tricky number sentences too:-)
We have been learning about the different parts of a ship and drawing the ship carefully from observation. We also practised our handwriting skills when labelling a picture of a ship.
Come and see our fantastic Pirate Passports! Here we are adding information to our passports ready to board our Pirate Ship during imaginative play indoors and outdoors.
Pirate PE session outside. Developing our listening skills and response to commands, e,g, walk the plank, climb the riggin, hoist the flag, scrub the deck, captain's coming!
Pirate photo booth and treasure island fun!
